Tata Nano's Big Fan

I love my Tata Nano

Yes, it will be our third. First came in 2010, second in December 2015 and third can come when my current wish list is fulfilled.  2010 one was also top of the range and 2015 is also top trim.

I want Tata Motors to add following bells and whistles to their top end Nano XTA for me to buy my third and yes, take another a lakh and half, maybe even two, but do give me all of this.

  1. ABS
  2. Just 2 front doors, back deck and a tail gate
  3. Better seats, wider the better and better fixed to the floor
  4.  Plush seats, fully motorized
  5. Vanity mirror on both front sunshades
  6. Driver side airbags or both front passenger airbags
  7. Glove box cooling
  8. On the door power window buttons
  9. Boot Opener
  10. Fuel intake regular outlet, opening bonnet is a challenge
  11. 100% Electric like Mahindra E2O would be big fun
  12. LED lights and rim/trim lights
  13. 2DIN audio
  14. Adjustable from inside manual/electrical exterior rear view mirrors
  15. Rear window wiper, washer and defogger
  16. Alloy wheels
  17. Leather seats (as an optional)
  18. Outside temperature indicator
  19. Roof rails
  20. Center armrest of sorts (I know it is very tight but a strong alloy armrest 3″ wide can fit in
  21. Steering controls for audio and dashboard

Tata Nano Modifiction Agenda October 25, 2009

As I eagerly await delivery of my Tata Nano which is still few months away, I have decided to make a to do list anyway and open it to friends and family for suggestion:

  1. It would be our first Business Idea prototype from Avval Business Ideas Pvt. Ltd.
  2. Our modified version of Nano would be named Seerat
  3. The roof would be the first thing to go off and would be replaced with toughened glass
  4. The back seats would move out and become flat platform
  5. Air Bags would come in
  6. The front seats would be moved out and replaced with power controlled seats with lumber support and would be  connected to an additional battery
  7. Rear wiper with spray would be added
  8. The rear view mirrors would get power control and indicator lights
  9. Front lights would get an internal row of LED circle – blue tint
  10. Rear/ Back light unit would be replaced with an LED panel
  11. Steering gets replaced with Audio controls
  12. A special U lights comes at the front and rear
  13. Tubeless tyres (If available in this size)
  14. Gets Alloys
  15. Gets a protective shield to cover the bottom
  16. Gets a four speaker music system
  17. Essentially a two seater, we would need to plan what we do with the rear doors, if possible we would close one and make the other remote controlled  lift up gate for shopping and such

I would love to implement more ideas, if they are practical. The idea is t make the car a small fun car for the family which does service in 5-7 KM radius for local errands, in 100% self drive mode

Logan By Mahindra Renault – A review October 28, 2007

How many cars does a man need? Ask me? We just bought  the new baby in town – Logan by Mahindra Renault.

Here I go on why we choose to buy it, why it is a great car and why it is unlikely to succeed in India (Have a great resale):

  1. Great reviews
  2. My daughter (all of 10 years) pushing for it
  3.  On time test drive at home
  4. Friendly at home sales professional
  5. Mahindra Logan is a very wide car and with no middle rest, feels even more wider, it is so wide that lovers can go estranged.
  6. A tall design which doesn’t look one. With turban my frame is over 6 feet.
  7. Rear seat, where I usually sit is huge for a car in this budget.
  8. The car runs!!! A great engine, good pick-up, very less noise. You are actually not in a diesel car till someone tells you.
  9. Road grip excellent couldn’t be better
  10. Braking mind blowing
  11. Suspension is little hard, but fine for all India drive.
  12. Paint Job is good
  13. Interior is roomy, but even in the top-end it gives a feel of “too much of plastic at too many places”
  14. Power window buttons can surely give you backache, if not a full blown spondylitis
  15. Doors are heavy and clumsy
  16. Doors open good enough for fairly healthy individuals to enter comfortably
  17. Boot is again best in class
  18.  Fabric is fine
  19.  Bad economizing at quite a few places, especially only one seat has a back pocket

Why go for it?

Great value for money. Solid. Wide. Tall. Silent. Economical. Boot.

Think twice?

Mahindra Logan is likely to have very poor resale. Too much of plastic in interiors. Clumsy doors. No central lighting. Bad positioning of power windows.

My 2 cents:

Mahindra Logan is not a good first car.

Best second car money can buy.

Best car if your driver drives and you travel at least 60 Kms every day.

We selected Mahindra Logan over: Optra Diesel; Indigo Marina & XL;Ford Fiesta 1.6 Diesel; Hyundai Verna Diesel; SX4 Petrol & Honda City Petrol.

Price: Rs 6.56 lakhs in Delhi on Road for top of the line model.
